Oliver Perry (O.P.) Sullens Jr.

Oliver Perry (O.P.) Sullens Jr., age 93, passed away on April 2nd, 2017. Son of Oliver Perry Sullens Sr. and Katherine Weickum.
O.P. graduated from College High School in Bartlesville, OK. He married Virginia Lee Gray on Christmas Day 1942. He went on to graduate from Kansas University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He and his father ran Sullens Construction Co. in Bartlesville, OK.
He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church as well as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bartlesville.
He was a bombardier on a B-24 heavy bomber in WWII and was shot down over Vienna, Austria on his 28th mission. He was captured and held as a prisoner of war until General George S. Patton liberated his prison camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Dorothy Cook; and his wife of 69 years, Virginia Lee Sullens. He is survived by his two daughters, Judith Steel and husband Curtis of Oracle, AZ; and Peri Clark and husband Ernest, and his beloved granddaughter Kacey of Santa Fe, NM; his brother John Sullens of Phoenix, AZ; and sister Lorraine Beckwith of Bartlesville, OK; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Berardinelli Family Funeral Service on April 13th at 9:45 am, to be followed by a ceremony at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 am. Following the services, there will be a reception at the McGee Memorial Center.
Pallbearers include Dave Sullens, Jim Farmer, Johnny Ray Mounyo, Jim Butler, Trigg Moore, and Gary Holiday.
