Julius Virgil SebastianApril 26, 1916 ~ August 26, 2017 (age 101)
Julius Virgil Sebastian of Santa Fe, was sent to be with his Lord and Savior August 26, 2017 at the age of 101.
Julius was born April 12, 1916 in Raton, New Mexico to Virginia and Charles Sebastian. He graduated in 1935 from Raton High School. After graduation, he moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked as a sheet metal worker and the installations of acoustical ceiling until 1981 when he retired and moved to Santa Fe. He met and married Helen Duff Lindsay in 1938. Julius joined the US Navy in 1942 and served in World War II with the Seabees by laying an airstrip on Bougainvville Island, in the Solomons to speed up the bombing of Rabaul a huge Japanese supply depot. Later in life he was a volunteer at the Beinvenidos Food Pantry until he was 99 years old. Julius was an active member of the catholic church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters and his wife of 61 years.
He is survived by his brother Marion Thomas Sebastian, Nieces: Ann Sebastian, Santa Rosa, CA, Kathy Lane, Glendale, CA, Beverly Pecotte (Richard) Farmington, NM, Frieda Sebastian, Albuquerque, NM, and Terri Sebastian, Megdalena, NM. Nephews: Michael Sebastian (Sally), Bainbridge, WA, Charles Sebastian (Linda), Costa Mesa CA, Harry Yob, Glendale CA., David Lindsay (Mary) Phoenix, AZ and Mark Edwards (Sue) Carlsbad, NM.
A viewing will be held at Berardinelli funeral home on August 30th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A Rosary will be held at 9:00 a.m. and Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. on August 31 in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi. A reception will follow.
Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Raton, NM.
