ELAINE FAVILL
May 9, 1936 - January 16, 2017

Santa Fe, New Mexico - After a recent diagnosis of lung cancer, Elaine Favill died peacefully early Monday afternoon, January 16, 2017, at her home.
Service: A mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Cathedral in Santa Fe on Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at 10 a.m.

Elaine was born in Chicago, Illinois, on May 9, 1936, the daughter of Alice Morrell Favill and Dr. John Favill. She attended North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka, Illinois, followed by Radcliffe College in Cambridge, MA, and Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI. She traveled to Ibiza, Spain, and later married John J. Reynolds, in 1959.

Relocating to Southern California, their first child, Clare Reynolds, was born in February 1960, followed by Siobhan in 1961, John in 1962, and Henry in 1964.

While raising her children, she was very active in local music organizations, such as the Palisades Symphony, and West Los Angeles Symphony, playing the cello for many years and passing her love of music on to her family. She went back to school and finished her B.A., at Antioch University Los Angeles. After a brief stint in law school, she became active in community organizations, namely the Tenant Action Center, located in Venice, CA. She volunteered extensively, also serving as a driver for Meals on Wheels in Southern California.

In 1986 she relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and continued her involvement with local organizations in music, and became an active parishioner at Cristo Rey Church, and St. Francis Cathedral.
Her later years were spent enjoying time with her triplet grandchildren Emma, Michael and Rachel Seche, her grandson Ronan Greenwood, and granddaughter Sarah Reynolds.
She had a life-long passion for animals, and her faithful companion, Pelli (the Cat) was at her side during her illness.

Elaine was preceded in death by her daughter Siobhan in 2011, and is survived by her daughter Clare Reynolds Seche, son John Reynolds, and son Henry F. Reynolds (Monica), and nieces and a nephew, and many friends in both California and New Mexico.

For those who wish to honor Elaine’s memory, the family requests that donations be made to:
The Building and Restoration Fund of the Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Road, Santa Fe, NM 87501, or Venice Community Housing Corporation, 720 Rose Avenue, Venice, CA 90291, or
