WillIam "Bill" F. Darmitzel Jr.

William F. “Bill” Darmitzel Jr. returned to his Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 6, 2022.  He passed away quietly, surrounded by family.

Bill was born on June 10, 1929 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  He attended Albuquerque High School, where he met Sally Farnsworth.  Bill and Sally were married on March 10, 1950 and celebrated their 60th anniversary before her death in 2011.

Bill graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Business Administration.  He served as a Technical Sergeant in the United States Air Force. After relocating to Santa Fe, Bill served for many years as Executive Director of the New Mexico Mining Association. He later worked for the New Mexico Department of Motor Vehicles.

Bill was an avid modeler and a superb builder and craftsman. He was a voracious reader of scientific and mechanical periodicals.  He loved airplanes, history, and fishing.

Bill was a longtime member of the Santa Fe Rotary Club.  He served the Club in various officer capacities, and was awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship, Rotary’s highest honor. Bill was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and later became a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Faith.

Bill is survived by his younger brother, Bob (Sally), by his four children, Bill (Emmageanne), Bob (Annetta), Paul (Katherine) and Jan (Bob), six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
