Robert Andrew (Andy) Sanchez, a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, NM, passed away on March 3, 2023, after a brief illness. 

Andy was born on October 30,1951, to Eloy and Guadalupe Sanchez, who preceded him in death. He is also predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Enrique and Benina Sanchez, and maternal grandparents, Crestino and Eloisa Rivera.

Andy retired as a bureau chief from the General Services Department of the State of New Mexico in 2001.

Andy dedicated 45+ years to the New Mexico Mounted Patrol, serving as Chief, and having achieved the rank of Colonel.

Andy also spent many years working for the City of Santa Fe teaching people to swim. 

He was also a CPR instructor.

Andy was a 1970 graduate of St. Michaels High School and went on to receive a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Sciences from UNM in 1974.

Andy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Jone Sanchez of Santa Fe; brothers:  Phillip Sanchez (Patricia), of Santa Fe, and Richard Sanchez (Brenda), of Gilbert, Arizona. He is also survived by his nephew Thomas, and niece Jessica.

Services are pending at this time and will be announced via the Berardinelli Family Funeral Service website.

The family of Robert (Andy) Sanchez would like to thank the medical teams at Presbyterian Hospitals (Santa Fe and Albuquerque) who compassionately cared for him during his hospitalization.
