Born July 22, 1947 passed away April 3, 2022 at the age of 74 in his hometown of Santa Fe, NM.
He was survived by his sisters Joy, Jane, June, and Judy, children Benjamin and Clarissa, and grandchildren September, Aamani, and Zion.
Richard and his siblings grew up in the fertile farmlands of Santa Fe's Southside. Together they often enjoyed the family cabin built by their father, Dick Saiz, in the Pecos Iron Gate area. Richard was drafted to the US Army during the Vietnam War. Afterwards, he attended college at Colorado State and New Mexico State where he graduated with Masters in both Science and Agricultural. He devoted nearly 30 years to the New Mexico Department of Game & Fish as a conservation officer where he made a multitude of contributions to wildlife research. After retirement Richard enjoyed Trail riding for Circle S Stables, farrier work, camping deep in the Pecos Wilderness, and tending to his farm on Saiz Ranch.
Richard was surrounded by his loved ones as he moved on from this world. Memorial services will be May 19, 2022. Mass at San Isidro Catholic Church in Agua Fria at 10:00 A.M. Interment of Ashes at 12:45 P.M. in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Memorial dinner on Saiz Family property at 5:30 P.M. Please contact family for further details.
