Nancy C Wood

Nan passed away at the age of 87 on November 16, 2021 at Montecito after battling with Alzheimer’s disease.  She is survived by her husband Keith, her daughter Shawn and son-in-law Clark Deeter.

Nan was raised in Blacksburg, VA.  She graduated from Radford College with a degree in education.  Decided to “Go west, young Lady” to visit friends in Albuquerque, loved the area and stayed, teaching English at Jr. High and High School.  After marrying Keith and adopting Shawn, as a baby, Nan stopped teaching to dedicate herself to family, friends, and community.

In Albuquerque she raised orchids and was an active member of the local Orchid Society.  When Shawn was two years old they moved to Littleton, CO.  Nan volunteered at Shawn’s school during the years there.  She also helped at the Public Library delivering books to the elderly.  Keith and Nan returned to New Mexico in 1992, choosing Santa Fe as their home. Nan was involved in the church, including the Ecumenical Movement here in Santa Fe.

Throughout her marriage, she was the anchor to the family.  Always supportive, honest, wise and humble.

Keith’s and Shawn’s success as husband and daughter were due in large part to the support and love given by Nan.

We can’t say enough good things about the care she received at Montecito, Ambercare, and since her passing, from Berardinelli Funeral Home.

A wonderful lady who lead a very good life. She will always be remembered and loved.  Services for Nan will be held at the St. John’s United Methodist Church on Monday, December 6th, 2021 at 10:00AM.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Association NM Chapter and The Food Depot would be appreciated by the family.
