Our beloved Gumps, surrounded by his family, died on August 1, 2018. A day didn’t go by without his Honey at his side, sharing a laugh or hearing him brag about his beloved grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Max and Rosita Rivera, his in-laws, Percy and Valentina Ortiz, his siblings, Aurora (Wilson) Smith, Gavino (Caroline) Rivera, Ida (Richard) Montano, Gilbert (Jane) Rivera, his brother in-law, Dicky Ortiz, his daughter in-law, Eileen Rivera, his nephew Martin Ortiz and his grandson, Jeremy Rivera. Survived by his Honey of 71 years, Betty Ortiz Rivera, his sister in-law, Rosina Ortiz, his sons, Michael (Johanna), Robert (Cathy), Philip (Maye), Steve (Elaine), his grandchildren, Ken (Emily), Brian, Jeff (Jessica), Jennifer (Dave), April (Brant), Denise (John), Philip, Valerie (Manny), Zack, Afton (Pancho), Stephanie, Fallon, his great grandchildren, Eliana, Max, Jeremy, Ava, Porter, Jaden, Sarah, Erik, Monique, Isabella, Liliana, Rosalia and Emelina, his special nephews and nieces, John, Peggy, and Larry Rivera, Richie Montano, Larry, Lisa, Carole and Marc Ortiz. Bugs loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew him. Rosary and Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 6, 2018 starting at 9:00 am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis de Assisi, 131 Cathedral Place, Santa Fe.
