Maura Anne Lichvarcik

December 23, 1980 ~ September 18, 2023 (age 42) 42 Years Old

Tribute

Maura Anne Lichvarcik born December 23, 1980, passed away Monday, September 18th 2023 after a prolonged illness.

Born at Sewickley Hospital in Pennsylvania to Don and Mary Sue Lichvarcik, Maura was doted on throughout her childhood by her parents and adoring big brother, Nathan. Maura graduated from Centennial H.S. in Roswell, GA. She was characterized by her inclusivity and generosity.

Maura held a kind heart, an infectious laugh, penchant for sarcasm and soft spot for all animals. She loved the sand and sea. An avid tennis player (ALTA) and novice golfer, Maura learned each swing from her admired father Don. Not only an athlete but an artist, Maura was deeply influenced by her mother Sue's creativity. Hence much of Maura's free time was spent drawing, making jewelry, playing guitar and even writing her own songs.

Professionally, Maura found success early in her hospitality career from working at the Georgia Aquarium to her management position for the Atlanta Braves in the exclusive 755 Club at Turner Field. Every client, staff member and superior always raved about her work ethic, quality of supervision, and positive attitude. Maura brought life to each encounter and light to every room she entered. She not only used her personality as a skill set in various management roles but she explored her more artistic side by becoming a sound engineer involved in production work for Soundesign Recording Studios (Brattleboro, VT). She was involved with many projects there including one of her parents’ favorite albums, "Living It" by soul singer, Mutlu.

From the city lights of Atlanta, GA, Vermont's green mountains to the enchanting sunsets of Santa Fe, NM, Maura created community wherever she went. Maura continued to work in the hospitality industry for many years, often relocating to provide for her family: husband, Robert Capote and two precious dogs, Lil' Ree & Isabel. Her most recent pursuits landed her in one of the epicenters of the hospitality industry -- Santa Fe, New Mexico, where Maura soaked up each and every sunset, often capturing them in vivid photographs.

Besides her husband and two fur babies, Maura leaves behind her mother Mary Sue Lichvarcik of Tunkhannock, PA and parents Donald and Pamela Lichvarcik of Atlanta, GA, along with brother Nathan (Karlene), niece, Vera and nephews, Romin and Cormac of Eugene, OR. Maura is loved unconditionally; her family and friends will forever miss her.

May we take solace in the notion that Maura has been reunited with her most loyal & cherished four-legged companion, Reba and may perpetual light shine upon them.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Street Homeless Animal Project (SHAP) in Santa Fe, NM in memory of Maura Anne Lichvarcik:

"I’M FREE"

Don’t grieve for me for now I’m free,

I’m following the path God laid for me

I took his hand when I heard him call,

I turned my back and left it all

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I’ve found that peace at the close of day

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

Ah yes, these things I too will miss

Be not burdened with times of sorrow,

I wish for you the sunshine of tomorrow

My life’s been full, I’ve savored much,

Good friends, good times, my loved one’s touch

If my time seemed all too brief,

Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief

Lift up your heart, rejoice with me,

God wanted me now, He set me free.
