Mary G. Lucero
March 20, 1919 – January 12, 2019
Mary G. Lucero, 99 years old, of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home 2 months short of her 100th birthday; surrounded, comforted and loved by her caregivers, Fedilina, Laura and Lucy who were like daughters to her.
Mary was raised in Raton, NM, lived in Taos, NM, then moved to Santa Fe and worked at the Old Toichert’s store in the early 40’s. She went on to work at the Taxation and Revenue Department, then the State Transportation Department (the old Highway Department) for 39 years.
Mary was a loving mother to her son, Phillip Santistevan, whom she loved more than anything else in the world and her 5 brothers and 1 sister.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Lucero; her son Phillip Santistevan; her brothers, Joe, Carl, Cesario, John and Tony Garcia; her sister Della Bueno. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Frances Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be recited Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church, 1301 Osage Avenue, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:45 pm. Reception will be held at the Santa Fe Hilton.
