On June 9, 2018, Moo’s remarkable dance with life came to an end. Moo was born January 17, 1957, in Santa Fe, to James Ruggles Thorpe, Jr., and Barbara Ann Thorpe. She will be remembered for the joy with which she ran and hiked on the trails around Bishop’s Lodge, where she grew up, and in the mountains overlooking Santa Fe. She will be remembered for the grace and patience she brought to her 36-year marriage to Marc Talbert. She will be remembered for the wise and gentle ways in which she helped raise their two daughters, Molly and Jessie. She will be remembered for devotion to her extended family. She will be remembered as a warm and generous aunt to nieces and nephews for her family and Marc’s, including Willa, Ira, Chloe, Ruggles, Meredith, Mary, Elizabeth, and Nathan. She will be remembered as a loyal partner for over 30 years in real estate with Chris Haynes and for the hard work, the integrity, and the many kindnesses she brought to her work with clients and colleagues. She will be remembered for the joy she brought to playing banjo and guitar and the lack of self-consciousness she brought to singing as she played. She will be remembered by friends from New Zealand to Colorado to Vermont. She will be remembered, but not defined, by the intelligence and tenacity she brought to her six-year dance with cancer. Moo was an explorer of beauty to the end of her life. Her sparkling soul, her dignity, her curiosity, and her grace never failed to inspire her family and friends. Moo survived her father, Jim, and her birth mother, Barbara. She is survived by her husband, Marc, children, Molly and Jessie, the mother-who-raised-her-well, Lore, brother, Jim, and sisters Sonja and Karen. We love you, Moo. Rest in adventure.
