Maida A. Martinez

Maida A. Martinez, 98, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her children on March 19, 2021.  She is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Benjamin E Martinez;  parents,  Abundio and Marillta Armijo;  Sisters;  Placida Ortiz, Carolina Gonzales, Leocadia Ortiz,  Margaret (Maggie) Armijo and Miquela Smith; Brothers, Petrolino Armijo, Frank Armijo and Abundio Armijo Jr.

She is survived by her sister, Maria Lourdes Barton, sister in law; Lari Armijo; children; Anna Castellano (Alex), Carlos Martinez (Lita), David Martinez (Virginia), Patty Romero (Rick) and Ben Martinez Jr.  She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, Godchildren, relatives and friends.

 Maida was a lifelong Catholic who had a strong faith and devotion to the Sacred Heart. She was so proud of her family and was most happy when they were all together. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, Godmother, aunt and friend and will be missed greatly.

Visitation and Rosary will be held on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Berardinelli Funeral Home, 1399 Luisa St, Santa Fe. Viewing will be 1-2pm, Rosary 2-3pm.  Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, April 6th at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Rd, Santa Fe, with Interment following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM.

Serving as pallbearers are: Leon Castellano, Mathew Martinez, Shawn Kesler, Izaak Martinez, Isaiah Eylicio, and Ryan Hoggan-Romero. Honorary Pallbearers:  Ramon and  DeAnna Eylicio, Anika Martinez, Marshall Martinez , Annette Martinez,  Lynette Romero, Nicole Romero, Pat Vigil, Ashley Kesler, Allison Martinez, Christopher Abbo,  Sienna Eylicio, David Kesler and Alyssa Kesler.

The family would like to express their gratitude for caretaker, Lorraine Garcia, and also Del Corazon Hospice, Compassus Hospice, Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center, and Berardinelli Funeral Home.
