Louis D. Nieto

LOUISE D. NIETO Louise was born on June 22, 1935, the daughter of Phyllis and Mel Rael. She was one of 11 children, 7 which preceded her in death. Louise was survived by three sisters, Connie Schnitzke, Josephine Quintana and Gerry VanAmburg. Louise had 5 children, Christine Keefe from Albuquerque, Gerald Nieto, preceded her in death in 1981, Jeff Nieto from Santa Fe, Yvette Nieto from Missouri and Monique Horcasitas from Texas. She was grandmother to 8 grandchildren, Joe Nieto, Devin Lujan, Jacob Nieto, Patrick Lucero, Tyler Nunez, Cody Keefe, Hunter Bowles and Taylor Horcasitas. She also leaves behind 8 great-grandchildren, Teke and Ty Nieto, Lauren, Alex and Kendall Nunez, Jaelynn, Juliette and Jazmynn Nieto. She adored her three goddaughters, Michelle L'Heureux, Terry Larwood and Cheryl Gilcrease. Louise enjoyed substitute teaching for the Santa Fe public schools for 17 years. She also loved being a tour guide and the director of tours for The New Mexico State Capitol during the House of Representatives legislative sessions from 1993 to 2004. She has left behind wonderful memories of a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved art, music, dancing, fishing, gambling and playing board games. We are grateful for each day we were able to enjoy her witty banter, exhuberant personality and glowing smile. We will miss her more than words can ever express. Her rosary/visitation will be held at the McGee Chapel, 1320 Luisa St. on October 26, 5-7 p.m. and her memorial service will be on October 29, at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 417 Agua Fria St. Her family would love for you to attend their celebration of life, love and memories.
