Leonel Garza, 83 long time resident of Santa Fe, NM died on February 10, 2021 after a brief battle with liver cancer. He was born in Edinburg, Texas on May 26, 1937. Leonel was preceded in death by his wife Lucinda. He is survived by Becky Falance, Estelle Miller and Veronica Reem; son-in laws Gaeton Falance, Jeff Miller and David Reem; grandchildren, Brandon and Taylor Falance, Ian Beck and Karlee Loftus, Kyle and Jared Reem and one great grandchild August Falance. Also surviving are his siblings Lydia Cantu and Octavio Garza of Houston, Texas. Siblings who preceded him in death were: Tila De La Fuente, Hilda Sanchez and M.G. Garza. He is also survived by his companion and dearest friend, Maria Naranjo.
Leonel (Leo) retired in 1995 after a long career with the US Social Security Administration where he served as the District Manager. In retirement, he was an avid volunteer, serving on numerous boards including AARP where for many years he served on the legislative committees, an area of particular interest to him. He also enjoyed reading, fishing, racquetball and spending time with his family.
