Juanita "Jennie" Aguilar, 91, passed away peacefully on June 5th, in Santa Fe, NM. Waiting for her in heaven is her beloved husband Guillermo "Willie" and her loving son Erwin. She is survived by daughter Marilyn, sons Norman and Ivan, grandchildren Danielle, Cr'de, Sebastian, Melanie, Miranda, Lauren Ivy, Amber-Rose, Madeleine, and 13 great-grandchildren. Jennie was born on June 26, 1926, in Glorieta, NM and moved to Santa Fe to attend Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School and Santa Fe High School. As a young woman, she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, where she met her future husband Willie. They wed on August 18, 1945, in Pecos, NM and raised their four children in small railroading towns, eventually settling in Santa Fe in 1961. Growing up in a railroading family, she had fond memories of riding the train and shared many memories and her love of trains with all who gathered to listen. Jennie retired from JC Penny's after 25 years of service and was a faithful Catholic. But, her most treasured role was as a devoted mother and grandmother, including to the neighborhood children who also called her "grandma." She welcomed everyone to her table for food and laughter. A viewing will be held at Berardinelli's on Monday 6/11 from 6-7 p.m. On Tuesday 6/12 there will be a Rosary and Mass at St. John's the Baptist from 10:15-12, with a 12:30 burial at Rivera and 1:00 reception at McGee Hall to follow.
