Tribute

JOSE ALFONSO CHAVEZ

Our hearts are breaking, as we sadly announce the passing of our beloved Jose A. Chavez. Jose was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle, granddad, and friend. As an independent contractor in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Jose, affectionately referred to as "Mr. Chavez" by his coworkers, demanded, expected, and delivered perfection to his clients with the help from the skillful, craftsmanship of his coworkers. Despite retirement, Mr. Chavez/Jose, continued to treasure the loyalty, the work ethics, but most of all, the friendships that remained throughout the years with his former coworkers.
Despite the bone chilling Santa Fe winters, you would find Jose and his coworkers persevering through the snow and freezing temperatures, creating some of Santa Fe's finest residential homes, commercial buildings, mini malls, and spa retreats among other creations. Jose was a perfectionist which transcended throughout all of his creations.
Jose, who was affectionately referred to by his wife as "Alfonsito," was loved, cherished, and cared for by his wife of 61 years, Delfina Chavez. Their bond was not merely husband and wife but as confidants, best of friends, soulmates, and partners throughout their life's endeavors.
Jose, recognizing that his father, Eloy Chavez, was aging and in need of assistance, without a second thought or a minute hesitation, Jose moved his family from California to Santa Fe to assist in the care and well-being during his father's remaining years. When his father needed transportation, Jose bought his father a new truck. When his father's roof leaked, Jose re-roofed his house. Jose's love and generosity for his father was boundless. Jose's father, Eloy Chavez was blessed with six exceptional, great, attentive, caring children who all took part in their father's care and well-being.
Jose will be forever missed and remembered by those who knew him as "Daddy," "Papi," or "Dad." Jose in his generosity and loving care, provided his daughters with countless, happy memories of family outings such as, camping, fishing, amusement parks, skiing, river rafting, snow tubing, picking pinion, and just being together. Jose was the dream father every child wishes for. In his later years, minus the daily stress from work, you would find Jose with a perpetual smile, a quick sense of humor, and his sweetness to always extend a helping hand to all. The loss of this great man is monumental. His love and generosity was boundless to his siblings, their spouses, his parents, nieces, nephews, granddaughter, friends, and charities. He was a true angel walking among us on this Earth.
We thank you, Jose everyday for our wonderful life that you provided your family. Here on Earth you will be deeply missed and thought about with love. The fact that you are no longer here will always cause us pain but remembering you is easy because our hearts are filled with beautiful memories and overwhelming love.
Jose's family is deeply grateful for all the love and prayers extended for Jose and respectfully requests that you please, please continue to keep Jose A. Chavez in your prayers. Jose's family extends their deep heartfelt thanks, and God bless you all.
