On December 31, 2018, at the age of 88, Jose A. (Sam) Garcia left this world peacefully due to complications from Parkinson’s.  

Born in 1930, in the village of Nambe, New Mexico, Sam was the third child of Pacifica and Antonio Garcia.  He served in the military during the Korean Conflict.  He moved to Santa Fe prior to his marriage in 1956 and worked in city and state government for many years. 

Sam is survived by his beloved spouse of 63 years, Alice, his five children and numerous grandchildren as well as a large extended family.

Sam lived a long and dignified life and will forever be in the hearts of his children.

A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, January 16th, 2019 at 6:00p.m. at Berardinelli Family Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, January 17th, 2019 at 9:30a.m. at St. Francis Cathedral in the heart of Downtown Santa Fe. Burial to follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15a.m. with Full Military Honors.
