John Martin Ortega

It is with great sadness the families of John Martin Ortega announce his passing.

John Martin is survived by his wife Judy, son, Derek (Susanna), granddaughter Alisha, step-son Matthew, step-grandsons Isaac & Milton,  parents Luis P. & Dolores Ortega, brothers; Robert (Judy), Louis (Judy), John Patrick, David & James Peter, sisters; Christine “Mimi”, Tammy (Martin), Barbara (Jaime), Mary (Peter), brother & sister-in-law;  Darlene & Dean, aunts & uncles;  Frank Ortiz, Donald Ortiz, Angela Lopez (Alonzo), Eva Parker (Chuck), Carmen (Tom), many nieces and  nephews as well as grand-nieces & grand-nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Josephine Ortiz, grandparents Luis D. &
Stella Ortiz, Frank S. & Lucy Ortiz, mother and father-in law, Melvin & Cleo Gallardo.

John was a builder and master craftsman.  He accelerated at anything he put his mind to. He enjoyed life and had an adventurous spirit.  He was kind hearted, loyal, loving and generous.  He had a deep love for his wife, family, friends and his dog Harley, as well as the Dallas Cowboys!  He was always willing to lend a helping hand and would go above and beyond to make a person feel welcomed.  He was quite an “amigo” man and had many, many friends who, along with his family, can share memories of his beautiful character, outgoing personality and humor.  He will be greatly and profoundly missed.

A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on July 5, 2021 at Berardinelli Mortuary located at 1399 Luisa Street in Santa Fe.  Funeral Services will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church located on Alicia St. in Santa Fe on July 6, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. Internment at Rosario Cemetery to follow.
