Our hearts are heavy, but his is light as he is sipping wine on an Italian rooftop. On Friday, November 6, 2020, our beloved John Bailey ascended into Heaven and we have faith we will meet again on that rooftop.
John Alexander Bailey was an extraordinary man who was blessed to live a remarkable life. From small-town Kentucky boy to seasoned world traveler – from Willie Nelson to Pavarotti – John amassed a wealth of diverse life experiences and attracted a large number of good and true friends. He was extremely intelligent, wickedly funny, ever kind, a steadying hand and guiding influence to all of us.
John is survived by his wife Donna, sister Mary Prokop of Savannah and a large and lively group of children and grandchildren who love and miss their Papa John. In lieu of cards or flowers, the family requests you consider donating to the Las Campanas Community Fund, whose mission is to assist nonprofits in Santa Fe who are struggling to serve those in need in the community during these difficult times. We will celebrate John together this summer. In the meantime, and particularly relevant to this time, we remember what John/Dad often reminded us, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. … and ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.” Mark 12:30-31
