Joe “Joey” Robert Rivera

November 12, 2023, Joe “Joey” Robert Rivera, 87, passed away peacefully after a beautiful weekend surrounded by his family. He was born in Santa Fe, NM to Gaspar and Seferina Rivera. He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Juan and Ernestine Quintana, brothers, Don, Seferino, Candido, Tomas, Bernardo, and Lalo, sisters, Ramona, Trinni, and Rosie. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lucille Rivera, children, Donna Crespin (Rick), Josina Rivera, Robert Rivera (Corrine), Steven Rivera, and Lisa Benavidez (Dana), brother, Edward Rivera (Marcella) and sister, Francis Ferrero. He will also be lovingly remembered by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nephews and nieces, and special family and friends.

Joey was a graduate of Santa Fe High School and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the College of Santa Fe in 1973. He retired from the New Mexico State Highway Department in 1995.

Funeral services will be celebrated on, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 with a Rosary and Mass beginning at 9:30am at Santa Maria de la Paz Catholic Church. Internment will take place on, Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 1:00pm at Rosario Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons: Miguel Salcedo, Alex Salcedo, Dominic Rivera, David Gonzalez, Eric Romero, Marcus Rivera, and Dana Benavidez Jr.
