James Doroteo Tapia, age 59, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021 after a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father Phil Tapia, his mother Josie Tapia, brothers Joaquin Tapia and Phillip Tapia, sisters Olivia Tapia-LaMonda and Sylvia Tapia. He was also preceded in death by Amy Romero, the mother of his children, and his grandson, Emilio Tapia. James was born on March 9, 1961 in Santa Fe, NM.
James is survived by his sons Santiago Tapia and wife Monica, Estevan Tapia, and his daughter Louella Romero and Charles King, grandchildren Josiah and Savannah, Estevan and Amyliana, Malakhai and Kalia. He is also survived by his sister Cecilia Tapia and Chris Muller, brothers Ramon and Marylou Ortiz, Robert Tapia, Gerard Tapia and Tammy Maloof, Manuel Tapia and one aunt, Mary Duran, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
James loved his kids with all his heart. James was kind, always wanting to help someone in need. He lived his life the way he wanted, and nothing ever got in his way. He made friends wherever he went, was well-liked and will never be forgotten. We have so many special memories of him. James will be forever in our hearts. Thank you to all that gave him life and fulfillment being with him.
Serving as pallbearers will be Santiago Tapia, Estevan Tapia, Ramon Tapia, Robert Tapia, Gerard Tapia and Manuel Tapia. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Muller, Dana LaMonda, and Pat Corriz.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anne Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Rosario Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
