Helen A. Marquez

Helen A Marquez, 87, beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother, Aunt, and Friend to so many, peacefully ascended into heaven March 25, 2024.

Helen was born in and a lifelong resident of Santa Fe, NM. Helen was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Manuelita Alire, brothers George, Frank, and Nicholas Jr, sisters Dolores Dimas and Socorro Gonzales, husband Manuel Marquez Jr, sons John Michael and Thomas Gilbert, and granddaughter Melissa Lucero. Helen is survived by son Richard Marquez, daughters Marie Tower and Cathy Marquez, brother Raymond Alire, sister in-law Christine Alire, best friends Mary Cannon and Gloria Vigil. 

Helen has seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 2 great great granddaughters, most of her grandchildren called her “GG”. She has many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who were very special to her. 

A rosary will be held  April 8th, 9 am at St. Anne’s Catholic Church followed by a mass of Christian burial. Burial will follow at Rosario Cemetery, a reception to honor and celebrate will follow at St. Anne’s Catholic Church Parish Hall, 511 Alicia St, Santa Fe, NM. 

Helen will be remembered as her family’s matriarch, her love, kindness, beautiful spirit, generosity, and enduring strength. Helen “GG” touched the hearts of everyone she met. Helen had a very special relationship with grandson Chris Lucero, his Jubb’s (grandmother). Helen will live in our hearts forever, we love you Mom, Grandma, GG always and forever.
