Gerald Peter Rodriguez was born in Espanola, NM to Lugardita and Manuel D. Rodriguez on March 10th 1940. He was a graduate of the Espanola Public Schools and the University of New Mexico.
He completed his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Following his residency at UCSF, he served as a Major in the US Army Medical Corps for 2 years. He then settled in Santa Fe with his family, where he established a private practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1973 – 1999. He fully retired from the medical profession in 2009 after serving countless patients from Northern New Mexico. Throughout his career, he was a member of multiple boards and commissions including various non-profit organizations.
Gerald had an unwavering commitment to his community, his profession, and his family.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen Rodriguez, son Manuel M. Rodriguez, daughter-in-law Jeanne Rodriguez, granddaughter Sophie, sister Flora Russel, brother Juan C. Rodriguez, and numerous extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents Lugardita and Manuel D. Rodriguez, brothers Juan G. Rodriguez and Manuel J. Rodriguez, and sisters Bertha Martinez and Angelina Valdez.
A memorial mass will be held at a later date.
The family suggests that any desired contributions in Gerald’s memory be made to the Christus St. Vincent Hospital Foundation.
