May 22, 1983 ~ October 17, 2023 (age 40) 40 Years Old
Gabrielle Christina McGhee was born on May 22 1983 to Linda Arthur McGhee and Garry Lee McGhee in Fayetteville Arkansas. She made her transition on October 17 2023 in her home in Santa Fe New Mexico.
She is survived by her mother ,Linda Arthur McGhee [Matt Neighbor],her brother , Quentin Markland [Kim], nieces ; Anna and Laura Markland, uncles; James Arthur [LeAnn], Barry Arthur [Patsy], great aunt Helen Russell, many cousins, loyal friends, and the Santa Fe Nia community.
Gabrielle was born with a natural tendency toward music and dance. From her toddler years she danced when the music started. She was drawn to people and conversation at an early age. She was also born with a strong spirit which allowed her to meet the challenges of life as a type 1 [juvenile] diabetic.
Being an avid reader and an extrovert, she enjoyed conversation on a broad range of topics. She was a loyal friend and an inspiration to many. She had a deep concern for those living in poverty and especially for the homeless. She volunteered with the Northern New Mexico Food Depot and with the Santa Fe Homeless Shelter [Pete’s Place].
Her interest in art projects led her to participate in the early development Meow Wolf in Santa Fe , the original immersion art adventure.
Her love of music and dance led her to visit the Nia Studio Santa Fe where she found her true calling as a Nia practitioner and finally a Nia teacher.
She loved to cook and share her experiments and her favorites with others.
She will be remembered for her strong spirit, her energy, her enthusiasm, and her ability to share and inspire others through dance.
She was able to compress eighty years of experiences into a short 40 years and had one of the best days of her life on October 16 2023.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Santa Fe Homeless Shelter [Pete’s Place],the food Depot of Northern New Mexico, Population Connection, or Nature Conservancy.
