Frances V. Romero

Frances V. Romero, age 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 28, 2023. She was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico to Cipriano and Cirila Sandoval.  She attended Loretto Academy and was a 1953 graduate of Santa Fe High School.  She married her grammar school sweetheart Manuel Romero on July 31, 1955. She worked various places in Santa Fe including  Hydes Pastry, Tastee-Freez, Cartwright Plumbing, Montgomery Ward Catalog and most importantly 44 years with the Santa Fe Public Schools and School Bus Transportation Department.  She was preceded in death by her parents Cipriano and Cirila Sandoval, Father and Mother-In-law; Joe and Rita Romero, Brothers; Gregorio, Ernesto, Flavio, Johnny and Luis, Sister; Elena, Son; Carl and grandson John Romero Jr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Manuel Romero, Children; Sharon (Mike), Vivian (Rey) and John David, granddaughter Charlotte, Daughter-In-Law Deeann, Brothers-In-Law; Phil (Corrine) and Robert,  Sisters-In-Law, Eva and Marylou. She had 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren,  1 great-great grandchild and numerous nephews and nieces.  Frances enjoyed cooking, baking and  sewing, especially crocheting, embroidery and making quilts.  She loved taking care of her flower garden and loved spoiling her grandchildren and making arts and crafts with them.  She loved watching hummingbirds and was featured in the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Special thank you to Charlotte Gonzales, Michael & Vanessa Sandoval, Cynthia Bybee, Carla C de Baca, Glenda Sanchez,  Curtis Horvath, Jayden Lopez, Ron Lopez, Brandy Dean, and the Presbyterian Home Health and Hospice staff especially Maggie “Peggy”, Nancy and Cindy for the love and care given to Frances.

Funeral services will be celebrated,  Rosary; Monday November 13, 2023 at 6:00 pm Berardinelli Family Funeral Service, Mass; Tuesday November 14, 2023 at San Isidro Center, (Agua Fria) at 10:00 am, Internment; Santa Fe National Cemetery 2:15 pm.
