Our Heavenly Father called our beloved Flora (Flo) G. Martinez home on Tuesday, May 31, 2022. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, also, the Holy Family Group #3, Coro de San Antonio and the Fraternal Order of Police Women’s Auxiliary. Flo was a people-person who touched the lives of many; especially while employed at E.D. Trujillo Trading Post in Pojoaque, the Flor-Al Flower shop, and as a hostess at La Posada de Santa Fe Restaurant and the Lamplighter Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents Elizario Sr. and Estefanita Garcia, siblings: Guadalupe, Laura, Norma Jean Garcia, Susie (Secundino) Quintana, Elizario Jr. (Eva) Garcia, Pita (Joe) Sanchez, in-laws: Joe G. Montoya, Dorothy Garcia, Tony Sr. and Josephine Martinez, Orlando Martinez, Joe Martinez, Stella Rael, Isabelle Martinez and Glenda Martinez, God-sons: Benito Garcia, Joe Mark Montoya, Jimmy Martinez, and Donald Archuleta. Nephews/nieces: Joey Sanchez, Michelle Therese and Jackie Quintana, many other relatives, and long time and devoted friend Michiko Wright.
She is survived by her loving husband Ross R. Martinez of 65 years, siblings: Ramon and Marvine Garcia, Robert and Lucy Garcia, Joe O. and Debbie Garcia, Ben and Charlotte Garcia, sisters: Gloria Montoya, Annabelle and Ron Brazeal, inlaws: Tony Martinez Jr., Guadalupe (Lupe) Martinez, Josephine Martinez, God Children: Ben Garcia, Leo Quintana, Joyce Markusfeld, Larry Abeyta, Michelle Garcia, Gina Rocha, Joann Vigil, numerous compadres, relatives, friends, and neighbors, especially Dora Holmes and family, John and Olivia Romero, Donna Apodaca, Yvonne Ortiz and family and Anna Mae Gallegos. The family expresses their gratitude to the Santa Fe Police Department, Fire Department, EMT’s , and Ginene L. Trujillo.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, visitation will take place at Berardinelli Family Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m., followed by the praying of the Holy Rosary by the family at 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1301 Osage Avenue, Santa Fe on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 10:15 a.m. with interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made to the Benito Garcia Memorial Scholarship Fund - attn: Zia Credit Union, PO Box 490 Los Alamos, NM 87544, American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity. Due to Covid-19 there will be no reception.
