Santa Fe — It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Dolores S. Martinez aka Dodi. She is survived by her two daughters Roberta Roybal (Roger) and Pam Grieco (Tony). Dolores is preceded in death by her husband Benji. She is survived by her daughters and Grandchildren Christina Ortega, Nick Grieco (Sarah) and Teddy Roybal and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Carmen Guerin and Marilyn Valerio and brothers Philip Vigil (Sylvia) and David Vigil (Minnie). A lifelong resident of Santa Fe, Dolores was born in Las Vegas NM to Henry and Lucy Vigil. She attended Immaculate Conception School as well as Highlands University. Dolores was an Army wife and she and her husband and daughters traveled all over Europe while Ben was in the military, spending several wonderful summers in Spain. She lived in Colorado, Oklahoma Alabama and three tours lasting nine years altogether in Western Germany. Dolores worked for many years as an instructional assistant for Santa Fe Public Schools. She was an amazing cook as well as an avid gardener. She also loved walking with her late friend Antionette. Dolores’s greatest loves were her three grandchildren. She also loved her Catholic faith and was devoted to her church. Her heart was always in Las Vegas and Northern New Mexico. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Funeral mass and rosary will be held on October 3, 2023, at 10.00 a.m. at the Santuario de Guadalupe Catholic Church with internment immediately to follow at the National Cemetery where she will be buried alongside her husband Benji. Special thanks to Beehive Assisted Living Facility for their excellent and compassionate care of our mother. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
