Tribute

Concilia “Connie” Lucero, 86, went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2023.  Connie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother (GG).  She was born in Lumberton, New Mexico on November 7, 1936, and moved to Santa Fe when she was a teenager.  She graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1955.  In 1958 Connie married Jimmy Lucero and they had 3 beautiful children....2 daughters and 1 son.

Connie was a devoted Catholic and woman of utmost faith throughout her entire life.  She had a heart of gold and wore her heart on her sleeve.  “She never met a stranger, it was just a friend she hadn’t met yet.”  She always greeted everyone with the biggest smile.  Connie was a childcare giver for many years.  She took care of dozens of children during that time including all of her grandchildren.  Connie was a Denver Broncos Season Ticket Holder and loved going to the games.  She also loved going on family vacations to Disneyland and her favorite character was Minnie Mouse.  Up to her last days she still talked about getting back there one more time.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lucero, parents Eliseo and Marina Trujillo, sisters Casilda Vialpando and husband Maximiliano, Pancratia Montoya and husband Victoriano, mother-in-law Margarita Lucero, father-in-law, Agapito Lucero and wife Molly, and Grandpa Bennie Montoya.

Connie is survived by her daughters Cindy Olguin (husband Julio), Sharon Lucero (Alex), son James Lucero (wife Victoria); grandchildren Michael Olguin (Fiancée Melissa), Jacqueline Armijo, Brittany Olguin (Allen), and Lorenzo Armijo; and great-grandchildren Ella, Damian, Sofia, and Luke Wood, Aubree Armijo, Olivia Olguin and Nikolai Rodriguez.  She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at the San Isidro Parish Center.  A rosary will follow at 7:00 pm.  Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 11:00 am at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.  Interment will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Michael Olguin, Lorenzo Armijo, Christopher Lopez, Alex Canett, Gregory Vialpando, Joseph Lucero and honorary pallbearers Julio Olguin and Amos Garcia.

The family would like to thank the wonderful Hospice staff at Ambercare.  God sent us some Angels right when we needed them.  Thank you, Tanya, Karina and Jackie, for taking such great care of our mother and showing her so much love and compassion.
