Antonia “Tonie” Martinez

Tonie was born September 29, 1925 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She went to be with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 6, 2018. Surrounded by her loving family – she was comforted by words from the Bible.

Tonie is preceded in death by Dan, her loving husband of 63 years, awaiting her arrival in Heaven. Preceded also by her mother, Maria (Ortiz); her sister, Angela Garcia (Lupe), and their sons Sammy and Michael.

Tonie is survived by her brother, Alex Ortiz; son, Raul J. Martinez; two daughters, Rosie Sweeney (Ray), Linda Rodriguez (Ron); four granddaughters, Debbie Torres, Shirley Flores (Lawrence), Annette Martinez (Manuel), and Bernadette Martinez (Vance); and  three grandsons, David Rodriguez (Evangeline), Joe Ray Sweeney III (Anna), and Jimmy R. Martinez (Yoko); and 17 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

We are all blessed to have had her in our lives! Tonie was a true Christian, who prayed the rosary daily, and loved blessing others. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed dancing, cooking, sewing, crocheting, and taking vitamins.

Tonie will forever be loved and remembered!

We want to give special acknowledgement to our cousin Cynthia, daughter of Angela Garcia (Lupe), who was a tremendous spiritual pillar of strength in our moment of grief, traveling all night from California.
