Helen Mriz Mozden, 90, born August 2, 1926 in St. Clairsville, Ohio; died January 16, 2017 in Los Alamos, NM. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Mriz and Marie "Mary" Santa; siblings Anna Grimes, Michael Mriz Jr., Mary Niehaus, John Mriz,  and Will Mriz and her son-in-law Kent Whyte. She is survived by her daughter Helena Whyte, sister Margaret (Bill) Williams, grandchildren Stacey (Johnny) Castro and Kurt Whyte, great grandchildren Cristina Perez, Kristian Whyte and Jacob Castro, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Helen graduated from St. Clairsville High School.  She was a baker in Billings, Montana; a cashier, bookkeeper and loan officer in Santa Fe, NM; and office manager for Dr. Gilbert Luna and Dr. Pat Coriz, dentists in Los Alamos. She was known for her plates of Christmas cookies and home made fudge.
Helen Mozden was director for several Crucios in Santa Fe, lector, a member of prayer groups and the 3rd Order of Franciscans, and a Eucharistic Minister. She was known as a "mighty prayer warrior".
Rosary will be recited at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos,  NM at 7 pm Thursday, January 26. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am Friday, January 27 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church.  Interment will follow at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos.
