Teresa Silva-Parsons
February 2, 1951 – February 2, 2018
Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at home on February 2, 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents Julia and Lorenzo Silva, and brother Gilbert Silva. She was blessed with two children: Joey Parsons, and Kelly Parsons (Stephanie). Two grandchildren: Emma and Jack Parsons. Teresa is survived by her siblings: Annabelle Silva, Frank Silva, William Silva; and sister in law Victoria  Silva. She is also survived by her aunts: Jenny Romero, Tessie Rivera, and Stella Rivera, and uncle: Henry Geissler. Teresa was blessed with her Saturday breakfast girlfriends who brought her good food and laughter on her last journey in life. Teresa graduated from Loretto Academy/St. Michael’s High School in 1969 and received degrees in Elementary Ed., Special Ed., and P.E. from N.M.H.U. and U.N.M. She was a Special Ed. teacher for 40 years for the SFPS until she retired in 2014 and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students. She was voted “Teacher Who Inspires” in 1986 and was a Special Olympic Volunteer Coordinator for Santa Fe. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Cancer Foundation for New Mexico.
There will be a Rosary for Teresa at the Cathedral Basilica of St Francis on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 9:00am, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.
