Welcome to the memorial page for

Sarah A. Boles

May 25, 1917 ~ January 30, 2017 (age 99) 99 Years Old
Sarah A. Boles passed away peacefully at her home in Santa Fe Monday, January 30, 2017 at age 99. She was surrounded by her daughters. Sarah grew up in Albuquerque and moved to Santa Fe in 1957, living there for the rest of her life.
Sarah is preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Lowell G. (Stretch) Boles.
Square dancing was an activity both Sarah and Stretch enjoyed, and they were members of the Sashay Rounders for thirty-two years. Sarah will be remembered for her many artistic passions. Her china painting studio was filled with delicately painted nature scenes, and she was a member of the China Painters Guild for many years. Quilting was a love of Sarah’s as well; she was even planning a new quilt the day she passed away. All the family members cherish her unique, specially made quilts celebrating anniversaries, weddings, and births. Sarah also enjoyed photography, knitting and was a sewing club member. Sarah also enjoyed line dancing and tap dancing, once even participating in a three generation tap dancing class with daughter Donna and granddaughter Cara. Bowling was another of Sarah’s favorite activities, and she participated in several bowling leagues almost up to the very end of her life. She was a member of the “Busy Bees” bowling team; when Sarah was unable to play with the team, the team members changed the name of the team to “Sarah’s team” in her honor.
She is survived by her three daughters Donna Rosingana; Judy (JB) Boles-Peña, husband Amado Peña; and Linda Morgan, husband Harvey; by her grandchildren Jamie Rosingana; Cara Rosingana, husband Aaron Derwingson; and Mia Rosingana, husband Keith Desrosiers; great grandsons Tayo and Jonah Derwingson; and “grand dogs” Charlie, Patty, and Dulce.
There will be a 100th birthday party and celebration of her life held for her in the spring.
Sarah and her family want to thank the amazing caregivers from Comfort Keepers for giving her care and support over the last two years.
Memorial donations can be made in Sarah’s name to: The Glenna Kohl Fund for Hope, P.O. Box 171, Marstons Mills, MA 02648 or at glennasfund.org/donate.
