Patricia "Pat" Trumbull

Patricia "Pat" Trumbull died peacefully with family at her side in El Castillo Memory Care, Santa Fe, New Mexico on April 10, 2024 from Alzheimer's disease. She was 90.

Whether homemaking or volunteering she had a strong work ethic, but duty was leavened by laughter. She made up songs and doggerel; she'd loved playing Yum Yum in a college production of the Mikado. Her cards were carefully crafted silliness to ease the pain of life. She avoided conflict in a contentious extended family, wishing to live differently. Her "clout" was respect, not command.

Pat moved to Santa Fe in 1984 and made the most of her years here, rafting the San Juan 4 times to see petroglyphs, volunteering as museum docent, and for 25 years with St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed her friends, especially Mary Daley, who went on cultural trips with Pat near and far.

Mainly, Pat loved the cultural "trip" that is Santa Fe. She was an avid fan of foreign films and Renesan. When she entered El Castillo Independent Living in 2010, she helped plan movie showings. Santa Fe encouraged her individuality, as she had with her three very different children and her children's friends. Dementia took many things from her one by one, but not her goodness.

She leaves behind 2 daughters Micaela and Melanie, son Philip, daughter-in-law Joyce, granddaughter Jessica and husband Miles, and grandson Ian, all of whom live east of the Mississippi. Her family thanks caregiver Rebecca Reynolds for joyous, sensitive help in Pat's last 8 years.

As Pat wished, no service is planned. Ashes will be placed in a favorite nature spot. Gifts may be made to Keres Learning Center in Cochiti Pueblo, or St. Vincent Hospital Auxiliary, Santa Fe.
