MARGARET E. WEIDNER
04/19/30 – 12/16/17

 Margaret E. Weidner passed away at the age of 87 on December 16, 2017 in Santa Fe, NM.  She was born in Arnold, PA on April 19, 1930 to Fred Michael Esser and Bernice (Flynn) Esser.

Margaret was married to the love of her life, Urban C. Weidner, Jr.  They moved to Santa Fe, NM in 1953. Margaret spent the first 30 years of marriage as a housewife lovingly caring for their 12 children.   After the children were grown, Margaret took great pride in beginning her 20-year career as a retail sales clerk for the Las Cosas kitchen shop.  She was an avid bridge player, bowler, gardener, and golfer. Margaret embraced the Roman Catholic faith her entire life and served the church as a Eucharistic Minister.  She had an amazing sense of style and fashion and was blessed with a dignity and elegance that was evident to those she encountered.  Her greatest joy was spending time with family.

She is survived by her two sons, Roy (Mary) Weidner and Kurt (Lorrie) Weidner, of Santa Fe, NM.  Ten daughters, Margaret (Julian) Rodriguez, Lisa Weidner Wilson, Christa Weidner (Martin Pacheco) of Santa Fe, NM, Kathryn Jordan (Charlie Blosten), of Littleton, CO, Deborah Dusenbury, of Albuquerque, NM,  Bernice (Ron) Gamboa, Diane (Tony) Gamboa, of Las Cruces, NM, Marie (Frank) Denison, of San Clemente, CA, Karen (Steve) Massey of Flagstaff, AZ, Ruth (Dan) Jennings, of Parker, CO.  She is also survived by her sisters, Joanne Ladish and Lois (Roy) Weidner of New Kensington, PA.  Additional survivors include 26 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and great-granddaughter Raina Rose Muehlmeyer.

A rosary will be held at St. Francis Basilica on January 22, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. immediately followed by a funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m.  Internment of cremains will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.   In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in her name to the Ambercare Foundation, 550 D St. Michaels Drive, Santa Fe, NM 87505, 505-917-6843.
