On January 15, 2018, our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, & uncle, Lorenzo Miguel Trujillo was called home to be with God at the age of 82. Lorenzo passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Lorenzo was born on January 11, 1936 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Loretta Trujillo, parents Lorenzo & Rafaelita Trujillo, paternal grandparents Don Miguel & Magdalena Trujillo, maternal grandparents Venturo & Benigna Portillo, sisters Eliza Trujillo, Miquelita (Bob) Jewett, Ernestine (Frank) Farrar, Cecilia (George) Adams, brother Tobias (Rosella) Trujillo, father & mother in law Manuel & Reynalda Almeida, brother in law Ross Lujan, and sister in law Eppie Jacquez.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Gloria Trujillo, sisters Elvira Lujan and Ruth (Pancho) Romero, daughters Angela Sandoval, Trish (Ron) Ortiz, Carmella (Enrique) Guerrero, Evanne (Edward) Gallegos, son Lawrence (Sarah) Trujillo, son (fiancé) in law Keith Miller, brothers in law Tony Jacquez, Danny (Lorraine) Almeida, sisters in law, MaryAnn (Wes) Almeida-Hall, Betty (Tom) Shinas, Carmen (Gilbert) Gonzales, grandchildren Jayson (James), Lawrence (Godchild), Lisa (Godchild), Sara (Corey), Nicholas, Anthony (Karlie), Kique (Samantha), Diego, Louis, Candace, Abrianna, Alexis, Lorenzoe, great grandchildren Christian, Miguel, Alyssa, Stella, Dezi, Abraham, Drew (Godchild), and Theodore. Lorenzo also leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, Godchildren and friends.
He attended St. Michaels High School until age 17 when he left to enlist in the United States Navy. Lorenzo served for almost 4 years during the Korean War. After the war, Lorenzo worked building airplanes in San Diego for General Dynamics. When he returned to Santa Fe in 1957, he worked for Julian Grace as an electrical technician. In 1964, he began his career with the State of New Mexico in the Motor Vehicle Division. Lorenzo retired from the State of New Mexico after 29 years and then delivered Meals on Wheels for 10 years.
In 1958, Lorenzo married his one true love, Gloria Almeida. He and Gloria had a beautiful life raising their 6 children. He was such a loving husband and an amazing father.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 2951 Home of the Brave. He and his comrades founded the VFW Honor Guard and presided over countless veterans’ funerals for over 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Military Order of Cooties, American Legion, Santa Fe Fiesta Council, Caballeros de Vargas, La Cofradia de La Conquistadora, and Union Protectiva Santa Fe. Lorenzo spent most of his life deeply devoted to Our Lady of Peace Nuestra Senora La Conquistadora. Que viva la fiesta! He was an avid fan of the St. Michael’s Horsemen, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Boston Celtics, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Pallbearers: Lawrence Trujillo, Keith Miller, Jayson and Lawrence Sandoval, Nicholas Trujillo, Anthony Ortiz, Kique Guerrero, Diego Garcia, Louis Gallegos, Christian Gallina, Miguel Sandoval, Lorenzoe Miller, Bert Lopez, and Leonard Romero.
On Monday, January 22nd, a visitation will be held at 6:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary and Eulogy at 7:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Road.
On Tuesday, January 23rd, a mass celebrating Lorenzo’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 1120 Canyon Road, followed by a procession to the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St., for the internment with full military honors at 2:15 pm.
The family would like to invite everyone to a reception immediately following the services at The Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 833 Early St., Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Memorial contributions may be made in Lorenzo’s name to the VFW Post 2951 Home of the Brave and flowers may be directed to Berardinelli Funeral Home
