Joshua Stephan Atkins, 5-25-84 to 8-15-17, passed away suddenly in Lakewood, CO on Tuesday night. Josh loved nothing more than to make everyone laugh, always with a cheerful grin and mischief in his green eyes. He had a huge and perhaps too sensitive heart--always going out of his way to meet new people, and help friends or strangers in need. He was very devoted to his family. Josh served overseas in Air Force Security Forces, transitioning to the Coast Guard as an electrician, before returning home to serve as a fleet manager for the U.S. Forest Service. Josh was often misunderstood but loved his family deeply. He is survived by fiancé, Maricela Diaz, her son Phil Candelaria, and loving family: His pride and joy: daughters Ashlyn Alexis and Alysia Alexandra Atkins; son Kaleb White; father Dale Atkins (Heather); mother AnneMarie Stanton (Robbie); brothers William Atkins and Tyler Stanton (Jackie); grandparents Steve and Alexis Scott, step sisters Bethanie Langston and Kimberlie Soehneland; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.  
A memorial service will be held at Berardinelli Funeral Home in the Max Randolph Chapel on Monday 08/21/2017 at 1:00pm. The committal service will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 2:15pm.
