Gordon L. Troelsen

Gordon Troelsen of Pecos NM passed away peacefully on April 6, 2024, at age 86 in Santa Fe NM.  He was a Vietnam Veteran and served proudly in the U.S. Army for 20 years; after retiring from the military, he worked in the construction industry and security services.   Gordon was born in South Dakota and moved to Santa Fe with his family in the 1940’s.  He was a devoted husband and father and instilled the value of hard work, resourcefulness and faith in his children; and he was a loyal and dependable friend. During his 20-year service in the military, he served two tours in Vietnam, and was stationed in Germany and in the mid-western U.S, accompanied by his wife and children.   He was known for his humorous nature and his laugh; and he was proud to be Spanish speaking.  He enjoyed gardening in his beautiful yard in Pecos and loved red geraniums.  He will be greatly missed by family and friends who knew and loved him; including beloved Border Collie, Leo. 

He is preceded in death by parents, Marvin Troelsen and Selma Davis; stepfather, Johnny Davis; sister, Gail Hamilton; grandson, Nathan Encinias, Sr; mother and father in-law, Marianne and Baudilillo Sena.  He is survived by wife, Viola Troelsen; daughter, Brenda Troelsen; son, Brian Troelsen (Veronica); grandchildren, Donovan Troelsen (Yanette), Adam Troelsen and Victoria Troelsen; and great-grandchildren, Markus Martinez, Nathan Encinias, Jr., Nicolette Encinias; sister Debra Meggett (Alonzo); and many other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Berardinelli McGee Funeral Home at 1399 Luisa St., in Santa Fe, NM.   A visitation is scheduled at 10 AM followed by a Catholic rosary at 11 AM, with the interment service at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1 PM.    The Troelsen family is hosting a memorial reception for friends and family after interment services back at Berardinelli McGee Facilities, Event Center at 1320 Luisa St., Santa Fe NM at 2 PM.
