Jacqueline Theo Joens Canzone was born in Omaha, Nebraska and baptized in Charter Oak Lutheran Church.  She was the only daughter of Theodore C. Joens and Esther Ilten Joens.  The family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa and eventually Cedar Falls where Jacqueline attended Grammar and High school.  Jacqueline entered State contests for voice (mezzo soprano) and won first place during each of her last two years of high school.  Jacqueline attended Iowa State Teachers College, now called the University of Northern Iowa, and majored in Music, Art and Home Economics.  She sang in the chorus and graduated with a BA in Education.  She taught her first year in Fredericksburg, Iowa.  The next year she attended the University of Illinois and received a Masters Degree in Education.  While earning her Masters Degree she met and married Peter J. Canzone of Chicago, Illinois.  The couple had four children, Peter Canzone, Jr., Camille Canzone, David Canzone & Jacqueline Marie Canzone.  The family lived briefly in Cedarburg, Wisconsin where Jacqueline sang with the Cedar singers.  Peter’s job took the family to Huntington, New York where Jacqueline taught Home Economics at Simpson Junior HS and Finley Middle School for 25 years.  While teaching she pursued more education and achieved 65 credit hours beyond her Masters Degree.  Along with her singing, Jacqueline enjoyed crafts, square dancing, painting, reading and golf.  Jacqueline retired to Santa Fe, New Mexico; she traveled extensively, belonged to the duplicate bridge club, was president of the Newcomers Club, and volunteered with Pink Ladies at El Carimo and at St. Vincents Hospital.  Jacqueline is survived by: Peter Canzone, Jr. and Mary Hannon, Camille Canzone, husband Ronald Tarrson, David Canzone and wife Sandy Phelps Canzone, Jacqueline Marie Canzone and husband Alex Perez, and grandson Alexander Peter Perez.
